Create & Configure a Product
Updated over 9 months ago

Products in Affelios are representations of products or services that a brand provides. The distinction of a product can give you flexibility in various areas within Affelios, such as tracking, reporting, and, more importantly, commission calculation.

The notion of a product empowers you, as a program manager, to adjust commission plans for specific products. This flexibility can potentially enhance sales by making the product more appealing to affiliates for promotion. This granularity can also help achieve different business objectives, such as shifting inventory in your store or promoting new products.

In this guide, we will walk through creating and configuring a product, and briefly touch on modifying a commission plan for a specific product.

Creating a product

You can create products by going to the products section of the dashboard and clicking on the "New Product" button at the top right of the page.

Configuring a product

To create a product, select the brand to which it belongs and give it a name, description, and an external ID. Optionally, you can specify the landing page for the product, this will be the page users are redirected to when affiliates promote this product.

The intention behind an external ID is to match up with your system so that when sales are made, the commissions can be attributed to the related product in Affelios.

You can optionally provide a preview for your product, this is what will be shown to affiliates when they are browsing the program and creating links.

Applying a Commission plan

The final step allows you to apply a commission plan for a product. If you wish to use the brand's default commission plan, you can click done and skip this step. However, if you wish to create a more attractive plan for this product, you can select that plan here. If you haven't configured your plan for this product yet, you can edit this program later once you have created your custom plan.
