How does the Tracking Process work?
Updated over 10 months ago

The magic of affiliate marketing starts with a simple intent. Intents can be dynamic such as a click or a QR code scan, or static such as the use of a coupon code.

In the case of a dynamic intent, a unique ID is generated by Affelios which contains all the information we need in order to attribute a registration, sale, or any other type of transaction from a potential customer, and in the case of a static intent, campaign information is already attributed to the code assigned.

In either scenario, the value needs to be stored by your website during the customer's first interaction with your website, be that registering a customer account, or making their first purchase.

The tracking process can be broken down into the following simple steps, we'll use the click example to keep things simple:

  • Affelios generates unique Campaign Tracking Links for each Affiliate within your Program which are used across a variety of digital media assets, typically a website or social media post.

  • When a potential Customer clicks on the link, Affelios automatically generates a Click Key that is unique to your Operator ID and is used to attribute future referred customers to your brands.

  • During a Customer Registration or an Anonymous Purchase on your website, the Click Key must be either stored in your backend or posted immediately to Affelios along with a unique External Customer Id

  • Future Revenue or Deposit Transactions for this customer can then be sent asynchronously to Affelios individually or in batches along with the External Brand Id and External Customer Id to generate commissions for your affiliates.
